My dear Parishioners,
At this time, I would like to offer you an update regarding the Gathering Space of our church. I am confident that you have all seen the banners on our buildings, joyfully announcing that we can at last begin the construction of our Gathering Space!!!
To that end, the Gathering Space Building Committee met recently to get our efforts finally underway. This is a small group of mostly technical specialists who will work closely with the architects, the builder, Fr. Justin Huber and myself. They are charged with the responsibility of ensuring Regulatory compliance with the Archdiocese of Washington and local governments, satisfactory completion of the project within our budget constraints and adherence to the vision incorporated by the original Master Plan for the Church and surrounding area. During the coming weeks, we will engage with final plans, County officials and the Archdiocese of Washington.
As you can imagine, the actual start of construction will bring some inconveniences. For that I ask for your patience, understanding and support along the way. In addition, because our permission to build from the Archdiocese of Washington requires a fully cash based project, adherence our budget will be a priority.
As your Pastor, I am committed to ensuring that the faithful parishioners of this community be kept fully informed of our progress. You can expect to hear much about this project in the weeks and months ahead. Also it is my intention that our communication efforts will be in keeping with the "multicultural" and "inclusive" spirit, blessing and richnesses that we experience here at Saint Rose of Lima.
There is much to do with regard to the completion of the good work that has been started here. It is also an opportunity for us to renew our spiritual journey as a community, engage newer members in the life of our St. Rose Parish and to finally realize the commitment made by long-time parishioners to “Build a New Home for the Church” (Capital Campaign 1), a sacred place that we all may call our home and feel welcomed.
I would like to thank with all my heart each member of the Gathering Space Building Committee for so generously accepting my invitation to help in the fulfillment of this long awaited dream in the life of our parish family.
Please continue pray for our Saint Rose of Lima Community as we move into this important phase of our Parish life.
May God and the Holy Mother bless you.
