Using the "We Believe" curriculum by Sadlier, children in grades K - 5 journey as faith explorers, learning about their Catholic faith in a meaningful, fun, interactive, and engaging way. Creed, scripture, morality, liturgy, sacraments, prayers, ecumenism, communal and missionary life, Christian living, and evangelization are delved into by our wonderfully creative and dedicated catechists. Our lessons are guided by and inclusive of the religious education standards written by the Archdiocese of Washington's Office of Religious Education. Our curriculum is enhanced throughout the year with special celebrations in our Church worship space centering around All Saints Day, Christmas, Triduum, and a Crowning of Mary. All 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders celebrate the sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation during class time once each year. All children in grades 2-5 spend time with Jesus in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament once each year during class as well.

At St Rose, we, the PK-5 Religious Ed ministry team, honor parents' commitment, made on your children's Baptism Day, to serve as the primary faith teachers for your children. Our ministry is intended to support and enhance your efforts. We seek to partner with you in helping your children come to know and love their God, Church, and faith. We walk with you in teaching your children how to live as Catholic Christians in our world.

We encourage all parents to enroll their children in Religious Education classes beginning in kindergarten to maximize the all important faith formation years in their youth. Children should participate in Religious Education every school year. Just as they cannot skip a year of regular schooling, they should not skip a year of their faith education. Your commitment to bringing them to Religious Ed every week year after year is critical - they will place value in whatever you make a priority. Participation in our Religious Education classes provides children with a wonderful opportunity to learn their faith and build friendships and connections with other adults and children in our parish community. Come join us!

Religious Education Classes are held at two convenient times:

http://www.strose.com/children/images/class-2.jpg Sunday Mornings, 10:00-11:00am OR Tuesday Evenings, 6:30-7:30pm. NOTE: Our Tuesday evening program is a combined K-12 program. Families with children spanning the ages are able to bring all their children for Religious Ed at one time.

Please note: We have space for every child wishing to enroll in grades PK-5. We will do all we can to accommodate your first choice day/time. To maximize the learning environment for all children, class sizes are limited. You may be asked to enroll your child on the alternate day. Please register early for greatest availability.

Parents of FIRST GRADERS: Sacramental preparation for First Penance and Reconciliation and First Communion is a two year process. If you wish for your child to celebrate First Penance and Reconciliation and First Communion in grade 2, they must complete first grade religious education.

Please use the 2012-2013 Pre-K-grade 5 Religious Ed registration form to enroll your child.
